Erion''s Behest was not a prereq for me (level 16 gnome rogue). That was important for me cause i wanted to do the alther''s mill quest and almost flew to darnassus to start at the beginning. I can''t really see what i might of had that would have been a prereq for this quest for me.

The best place I found to get this stuff all in one place is Alther''s Mill. Lots of Condors and Spiders, and the occasional Goretusk. But no one cares about the lack of Goretusks since you can find those guys in abudance near the flight path.

Upgrade your weapon(s) every few levels, the rest of the stuff can generally lag a bit behind. Consider getting the local "kill X of this beast." quests for more XP, if you''re going to be killing them anyway. Learn to use HotKeys and macros and then memorize them.
Here''s the scoop, guys. Approach the statue from the south, following the trail that leads from Render''s Valley to the Tower. If you follow the edge of the mountains when approaching the statue you should have no problems. Do NOT approach the tower by following the road east from Alther''s Mill. That direction is thick with mobs lvl 2426.

Once inside the mill, I was never attacked and was able to focus on just lockpicking. By standing in location on the screenshot, I was able to pick 4 lockboxes without having to move which was nice. This was especially handy around level 65, which is when the lockboxes went green, because from then on it took multiple boxes to level up ...
